In the mountains of Caguas is located one of the most picturesque locations in all of Puerto Rico. The region consisting of farmlands and rural housing selectively placed around the winding rivers and incredible rainforest-like valleys and peaks has a selection of amazing trails for hiking and walking and just spending some quality time in nature.
This location also offers some of the most amazing extreme rock climbing and cliffs which is why this is the perfect spot for the Rocaliza Nature Adventures. With over 40 acres of amazing sights here, the hiking and rock climbing is just the beginning. Rocaliza’s expert staff takes you out through the winding trails and you visit a spot with a 70 foot shear drop over the cliffs into the river. This is when the adventure gets even more exciting as we rappel off the side into an amazing waterfall that flows out the mouth of an incredible cave that will not want to leave. Once again the feeling of nature and being out in a tropical forest comes over you.
After taking several pictures including one of the many group photos of our team, the next stop is a short hike to the zip lining and we are back in adventure mode. The zip lining are set up in the treetops and on the hilltops, with eco friendly platforms that have minimum intrusion to the forest and are the safe and inspected regularly. The guides will show you how to zip safely and have fun while doing it. The lines race over rivers and waterfalls with amazing sights of beauty and wildlife while the adrenaline rush of flying through the air will give you the experience of a lifetime. After a short hike back to the family compound, which is an old one room school house with several of the families houses surrounding it, you sit down to a delicious homemade Puerto Rican lunch in the amazing surroundings of Caguas.
The tour begins with amazing sights as extremely informative tour guides like Luigi take you down along the trails to the river and show you around explaining the wildlife and unique plant life to the rain forest When you get to the river, you will be amazed by the beauty of the location and the crystal clear waters. The spot has a natural pool that you won’t be able to resist taking a dip in. While there take an exhilarating swim, your tour guide is on the shore telling stories of the rich history of the natural pool where Taino Indian women would clean and gossip, while the kids would splash and play.
Your guides also tell you about the life and times of the people from the past that lived in the rain forest and even get your face painted with the natural clay and soft rocks that lay around the river to this day. After your swim there are many more trails to explore and hiking and climbing to enjoy.
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to climb up the face of a roaring waterfall? Then we have the adventure for you. In the deepest of spots in the forest of Ponce lies the location they call “Jurutungo” or “the middle of nowhere”. Although it seems like the middle of nowhere, just a short drive from Ponce, the second largest city in Puerto Rico is one the first most amazing adventures on the island.
We take you out to a location that part private and part public lands and stretches over hundreds of acres of the beautiful lands anywhere in the Caribbean. Amazing trails and flowing rivers outline the properties with one of the largest rivers in the island. In addition to being able to climb up the waterfalls, you also get to rappel down these amazing waterfalls and test your adventure skills to see if you can rappel right in the river. Next stop is the spot that has incredible views from the treetops and gives you the thrill of zip lining over the river and through the forest.
